Learn about the many opportunities, and resources found in most neighborhoods. Our neighborhoods are rich with culture and resources that make life better. In many  communities they provide access to a variety of tools that keep us safe and connected.

Celebrating Latino Culture: Hosted by ALAS [Alianza Latina Aplicando Soluciones]

ALAS is dedicated to promoting the independence of families of children and youth with diverse abilities in Milwaukee by providing educational workshops, parent support groups, family events, community building activities, and service referrals amongst other services and supports. Learn about Latin dance, the history of Piñata’s and more. Enjoy your “Piñata” in your conference kit.

Celebrating Black Culture: Hosted by Parent University

Helping families in the Milwaukee area. Parent University services as a resource center for black families and their loved ones with disabilities. Parent University helps families navigate systems of support including schools.

Celebrate Mardi Gras Style. Learn about traditions and the Zulu tribe that represent the black history of Mardi Gras. Learn about foods that keep people coming together. Make a mask and join in on a virtual parade. Enjoy your own personal mask to decorate in your conference kit.

Celebrating Russian Culture: Hosted by Milwaukee Russian Community

Milwaukee has a rich and proud Russian community. The self-advocates and IRIS Consultants will share a typical dinner, complete with traditional dinnerware. Learn some words and phrases that are Russian that you would hear at the dinner table. Take a virtual tour of the different regions of Russia. A cookbook will be available online, for those that might like to try making some traditional Russian meals at home. Enjoy some Russian candy in your conference kit!

Native American Culture: Hosted by Great Lakes Tribal Council, Inc.

Enjoy the legend of the Dream Catcher and learn about Wisconsin’s rich Native American Community, with eleven tribes, each with their own history to tell. Learn where they are located, how they got there and a little about some of their many traditions. Want to learn how to greet someone in the Onieda language, learn the symbolism of their regalia (traditional clothing) or what you may see at a traditional Pow Wow. Learn about the alluring (interesting) tradition of the dream catcher.

Sure you get your mail delivered 6 days a week, but did you know that the post office has other services that come right to your door? Learn about resources that allow you to order supplies, ship packages and notify you of upcoming deliveries without ever leaving your home.

Health Clinics: Hosted by the Self-Directed Personal Care Services (SDPC)

Keeping healthy is on everyone’s mind these days. Learn or refresh your knowledge of handwashing techniques, proper mask wearing and other simple things to do to keep yourself and those around you healthy.

Emergency Preparedness: Hosted by The American Red Cross

The American Red Cross works to prevent and lessen the impact of emergencies through volunteers and the generosity of donors. See a demonstration for putting together an “At home preparedness kit” and other preparedness resources. You will also have the opportunity to sign up for free smoke alarm installation and education on fire escape planning.
